Once a lithium battery goes into thermal runaway, the fire grows in seconds. Safety in a residential charging bay is therefore not about reviewing footage afterwards. It is about whether anyone is watching at the moment it happens, and whether anyone can act.

The problem: the chargers are in. What next?

Almost every new building in Taiwan now allows for EV charging, and older buildings are adding it. Once the equipment is live, a management committee faces three questions: is there enough power to share, who maintains it, and what happens if there is a fire.

The third question is the hard one. Underground car parks rarely have staff, and at night they are empty. A fire panel may sound in the management office, but somebody has to hear it, know which zone it is, and decide what to do. That gap is where a small incident becomes a large one.

The approach: wire the flame detector into the monitoring centre

The architecture explained in the video has three parts.

EMS energy management

Sharp Energy balances power across the whole building, so more parking spaces can charge within the existing capacity, while the status of every charger is known in real time.

Flame detectors

Flame detectors are added in the charging area to detect fire directly. Compared with waiting for smoke to reach a smoke detector, the reaction comes noticeably earlier.

24-hour security linkage

The signal is sent to the WorldTrend monitoring centre. An operator reads the scene, pulls live video, notifies the committee and the fire service according to a written procedure, and sends a responder if needed.

The third part is the one that matters. A detector only finds the problem. What decides the size of the loss is how long it takes for a person to act. Routing the signal into a 24-hour centre fills in the hours when the building has no staff of its own.

A detector going off with nobody to receive it is just one more noise. The point of the security linkage is to turn that signal, within seconds, into an incident somebody owns.

One step further: fire blankets and drills

Beyond detection and notification, a site also needs something usable in the first minute. With the fire-protection brand Cheng-Deh we bring in EV fire blankets and roll-away storage cases to suppress a fire before the fire service arrives, and we help the building plan escape routes and run drills for the charging area.
